My Mom's Letter to God

Dear Wonderful Creator of the Universe,

I do not know how I will surrender to you my soul- with a body that is whole or not whole. Now, it no longer matters- I am READY.

You've given me the sweetest life. The honey of success, the warm friendship of my friends, the fleeting joy of material wealth, but most valuable of all is the feeling of true deep love of my family, most especially my husband and children.

I tossed in the waves of faith and fear but now should my creator choose to redeem my soul, I will no longer ask why. I rarely did ask why. Deep within me, I knew there is a reason for everything.

The reason is now unfolding - " To awaken thy love in all hearts." I offer to you my husband's and children's LOVE. My greatest gift to you My God for all the goodness in my life.

We are so proud of our Mom and we want the whole world to know how exceptional she is.

Jul Dizon - 1943- 2009

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing about the passing away of my beautiful Mom. The grief is overwhelming. I am hoping that by showing you my eulogy, it will give me some kind of solace.

To my Mom, my best friend, closest advisor, till we meet again.

Thank you all for coming and being with our family on this bittersweet occasion.

Aside from family, we usually see everybody during one of our social events where we celebrate milestones. Well, this is actually also one of them. We are celebrating the successful life of my wonderful Mom- how she lived it, how she led it.

If I were to describe Mom in 3 words, it would have to be beautiful,
thankful and prepared.

She is beautiful in all aspects of the word. Inside and out. Her
elegant demeanor, her style and grace was evident to all. When I was
younger, everyone would always comment on how much I looked like her
and of course the rebel that I was, I wanted to forge my own identity.
But now, as I've grown up, I've realized what a great
compliment it is. Her ageless skin- she was a Dove endorser 4 yrs
ago- to have her easy ever gracious smile, I can only aspire and wish
to be as flawless as she was.

Inside, she is a woman of great compassion and grace. I've not heard
her say one mean thing about anybody- it was always, "understand that
person's situation pls" Her thoughtfulness and devotion to God is
beyond human. Everybody might think that I am putting her on a
pedestal and that is really what I am doing for my mom is clearly an
exceptional woman.

Her thankfulness in everything she did gave us her family and her
friends so much inspiration. If you have received a basket of flowers
or fruit, or both from her, chances are she did the arranging herself.
She would always start our prayers with thank you, not pls give or pls
bless because she believed that if you start with thank you, it
means that you have already received God's grace. And you know what,
it is 100% true.

The last description, preparedness is an action that she has been
doing for us eversince. In our teenage years, when were ONLY
interested in partying and chasing boys or girls, she would make us
sit next to her after school so we can observe her interact with
customers. This prepared us to deal with clients who sooner than
later become friends. She taught us the business as she led it- with
integrity, truth and always service with a smile. So if you know our
family, you will know that it is easy to make us bola into giving you
a better price. Not so good in the profit margin area, but very good
in making lifelong friends.

So to my BEAUTIFUL mom, I THANK God that He made you are our Mother for you are the best mother for us. I THANK you Mom for
preparing us for our lives ahead. I THANK you Mom for being such a
great woman, wife, mother, friend, businesswoman, artist and
inspiration to many.

It is with great pride and honor to say that I am
MY Mother's daughter.

I am a Nokia Ambassador!

I am tickled pink that I was asked to be a Nokia Ambassador (that's what they call it). I have been an avid fan of Nokia since mobile phones came out. I have treasured each and every one of my phones till the next upgrade caught my fancy (then the old ones ALL got stolen , isn't that strange?) We were given the E72 series to test drive the push email capabilities and all I can say is it's fast and addicting. The 5 megapixels doesn't hurt as well. I'm still getting used to the QWERTY keyboard but all in all it's a phone I can recommend.

Hongkong International Jewellery Fair

Last September, I joined the HK Jewellery and Watch Fair as a first time exhibitor.

Already Asia's biggest show of its kind, the Sept HK Jewellery and Gem Fair took its leadership further by becoming the world's biggest jewellery fair in terms of number of exhibitors. The fair featured over 3,000 exhibitors! You can imagine how daunting it was for a newbie like me. Still it was very exciting and I hope that my jewellery reaches a broader international audience.

I debuted my sliders and stingrays which was quite successful due to the orders I've received plus the amount of other exhibitors trying to take pics of our products. As they say, imitation is the most annoying form of flattery.

My sister Candy and Ginny helped me out. We had peking duck almost every night!

I'm happy to say that my collection appeals tremendously to Europeans and Indians.
I am definitely showing again next September!

Dennis Lustico Fashion Show

I am bowled over by Dennis' first solo show!! The creations were a mixture of heavenly and frothy to earthy and dramatic. If I only had a gajillion dollars (pound sterling na lang pls) I would buy each and every one. I would buy a body to wear it as well..

I was invited yesterday by Hongkong Shanghai Bank to share my experiences as an exporter. I was quite nervous since no 1. I am a newbie and no 2. I was sharing the panel with Anton Huang of SSI (the local distributor for all things luxe: Hermes, Prada you name it) as well as Mr. Hiro Asandas who is a big time exporter.( he holds the licensing for all the linens of Disney as well as the brand Canadian)

It was held at the delightful Sala restaurant. We were asked questions such as how globalization affects our business (my answer: jewellery has always been a global business- diamonds from Africa, rubies from Myanmar, emeralds from Cambodia, need I say more) and plans for the future.

It was a great experience for me and I am glad I was there to listen to these pros talk.Mr. Asandas was a witty natural story teller and Anton was eloquent and charming.

Last night, my Mom and I attended the launch of the Philippine Guild of Jewellers' Design Competition at the Amber Ultra Lounge at the Fort. It was a night full of jewellers and everyone looks forward to this competition.

I went to ManilaArt last night and boy was it jampacked! Talk about sensory overload. I'll have to go back this weekend to hopefully (and quietly) absorb and be inspired.

Speaking of sensory overload, I was quite proud to say that I saw so many ladies wearing my creations. I wasn't able to snap all of them but you know who you are! Each wore it their own stylish way- have a look:

Sister Act 1- Preview Editor Pauline Suaco Juan and Mago Suaco Oben. I am proud to say that they call us their family jewellers. Pauline has also been very supportive of my business since day one. Love these girls!

Tres Cruzes- Leslie, Camille and Reina. I enjoy being with these 3- we did a photobooth session after and it was a hoot!

I teasingly call her Ms. She-Who-Needs-No-Introductions but Irene Marcos Araneta is really a down to earth kinda gal. A beautiful person inside and out!

It is such a treat to dress up Ruffa Gutierrez. Her stylist, Yoya Gueco (who is also Rajo Laurel's "third eye" as he calls her!) usually emails me designs of what she is wearing then we collaborate what looks good. As you can see, jewellery fits Ruffa to a T!
